Hours

The Medford Historical Society & Museum is the city’s museum.  Located at 10 Governors Avenue, we are open every Sunday afternoon from 1:00-4:00 PM or by appointment by visiting our contact page. Volunteers are available during these hours to help with your Medford-related questions and research. We also have exhibits of local interest including a large diorama of Medford in 1855, documents from the 18th-century Atlantic slave trade, objects used by Native people in this area, information about Medford’s abolitionist history, and equipment from Medford’s historic Rum production, and more. Here we are on Google maps:

Collections

The Society’s collections include hundreds of items from Medford’s long and lively history including town reports, city directories, genealogical materials, school records, maps, photographs, postcards, documents, art works, military artifacts, textiles, and many, many, many other objects and writings. MHSM also maintains a library of reference materials to help with Medford history research. The collections are being cataloged even as you read this, and our growing catalog will be posted when we are able. In the meantime, our volunteers are available during our open hours (Sundays 1-4 PM) by telephone during those hours or through online contact form to help with your inquiries. Please call (781) 391-8739 or click here to contact us online.

Parking

Parking is available on the street (not directly in front of the building) or at the town-owned parking lot directly across from MHSM.
